On 16 February 2009, Jan Berry published her Interim Report on Reducing Bureaucracy in Policing.
The report draws on the recommendations of Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s Review of Policing to remove and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy for the Police Service. It also sets out the progress made since Sir Ronnie Flanagan’s review was published in September 2007.
The government recently set out its plans for the future of the police services across England and Wales in the Policing Green Paper (new window): From the neighbourhood to the national: policing our communities together.

The Home Secretary appointed Jan Berry, former chairperson of the Police Federation of England and Wales, as an independent bureaucracy advocate to lead a review of police process and identify where bureaucracy in policing could be reduced.
