Summary of HMIC baseline assessments.
The Northamptonshire policing model was introduced in October 2004, to align resources with demand effectively through major organisational change. This has been supported by a new performance management system to provide enhanced information and accountability for the force.
The command team has changed with the appointment of a new Deputy Chief Constable (Operations) in November 2004 and since October 2004 there has been an additional temporary Assistant Chief Constable (Territorial Policing) in post.
During 2004/05 there have been significant reductions in recorded crime in Northamptonshire compared to performance figures for the previous year. The force has been supported by the Police Standards Unit (PSU) in achieving its performance improvement. The key challenges for 2005/06 are to continue to reduce levels of volume crime compared to those achieved by its peer group, and to improve its sanctioned detection rates in key crime areas.
