Summary of HMIC baseline assessments.

During 2004/05, the force continued to make significant reductions in the level of recorded crime and increase detection rates in most key crime categories. The force was heavily committed following a double murder in August 2004 that had direct links with serious organised crime groups in another force area.

The command team for Lincolnshire is well established, having been together for over 12 months. A new Chair of the police authority has recently been appointed, and a strong and supportive working relationship has been maintained between the authority and the command team.

The challenge for the force during 2005/06 is to strengthen its performance in key crime areas both for reductions and detections in comparison to its peers. Alongside this, the force will be building on its existing culture of community policing, focusing on processes of community engagement and contact, as well as developing neighbourhood policing teams.
