Summary of HMIC baseline assessments.
Following a period of stability in the command team, the past year has seen the appointment of a new Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) and an Assistant Chief Constable (ACC).
In 2004/05, Gloucestershire has reduced overall crime, and specifically domestic burglary, robbery and vehicle crime, but is still near the bottom of its peer group. Investigative performance has seen a reduction in detections for most categories of volume crime. A comprehensive ‘Catch & Convict’ programme has been put in place to reverse this.
There have been successes in combating major and serious crime and cross-border criminality. Improvements are continuing to be made in the way diversity is addressed both internally and externally. A dedicated and loyal workforce supports the desire to be an employer of choice in the area.
