Summary of HMIC baseline assessments.
2004/05 has been an important year for Cambridgeshire Constabulary as it recovers from the performance issues of previous years which received so much public attention. One of the most positive developments for the force has been the HMIC and Police Standards Unit (PSU) support for its improving performance management regime, which facilitated PSU disengagement in March. Positive proof of this transformation can be found in the effective handling of homicides by the force’s major incident team during the year.
Customer focus and service delivery are now operational priorities, with an extensive customer relations programme on the verge of full implementation and the successful pilot of neighbourhood policing on southern division. Strategic issues will present challenges in the coming year as the force/police authority relationship is redefined through closer co-operation and clerking arrangements.
