New added years tables for NPPS (08/06/07)

Government Actuary's Department have published new guidance on the purchase of increased benefits in NPPS, replacing the guidance publsihed in August 2006.  

New stakeholder scheme (01/05/07)

Standard Life have launched their new stakeholder pension scheme for the police service in Great Britain (the Police Service of Northern Ireland already had their own stakeholder). This is a new way for officers to top up their police pension (the existing Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) scheme continues unchanged). The new stakeholder is open all officers, regardless of whether they are members of the 1987 pension scheme, the 2006 pension scheme or neither.  Find out more information from the Standard Life website (new window)

Updated Transfer and Divorce guidance for 2006 scheme (NPPS) (13/04/07)

The Government Actuary's Department has produced updated guidance on the calculation of transfer values for transfer into another pension scheme or for pension sharing purposes on divorce. 

Good-bye 30+ scheme! (10/04/07)

On 1 April, and this was no April Fool's joke, the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) came into being and took over the central administration of the 30+ Retention Scheme. Anne Jones has moved to the NPIA with 30+ and will remain your point of contact for any questions on the scheme. Her new contact details will be circulated shortly once vesting is complete.

Please note that this means the 30+ information pages and documents will be moved from this site to the NPIA website (new window) soon.   

End of Options Exercise (06/02/07)

The three-month window for officers to join NPPS and transfer their PPS service under special terms came to an end on 31 January. Individual officers may have been granted extensions in exceptional circumstances, so contact your pensions administrators if you were not given the opportunity to transfer as part of the options exercise and you are unsure of your position. 

Police Pensions Regulations 2006 now available (02/01/07)

The Police Pensions Regulations 2006 (SI 2006/3415) (new window), the basis for the New Police Pension Scheme 2006 (NPPS), were laid before Parliament on 21 December and were published on 29 December, the delay being due to the Christmas break. The accompanying Explanatory Memorandum (new window) for these regulations is now also available. CRA Objective Justification Paper now online (19/12/06)

The Objective Justification for the new Compulsory Retirement Ages (CRA) can now be found in the Downloads section of this website in the 'Supplementary Documents' box.

Downloads Section online again (02/11/06)

Following the resolution of some major technical issues that had made the Downloads pages unavailable this morning, this section is now online again.

Following the growth of this section, the Downloads area required restructured. In this process links to the latest Home Office Circulars on Forfeiture (HOC 26/2006), Recharging (28/2006) and CRA (30/2006) were added as well as the Options Exercise Guidance Supplements 1 and 2.   

Administrators' Forum now online! (30/10/06)

The new Police Pensions Administrators' (PPA) Forum is now online and can be accessed by following the link on the Forum page. As this is a restricted forum, users are not able register themselves. User details will be circulated over the coming days so watch out for your email providing you with your log-in details. If you do not receive such an email and would like access to the forum, please email the forum moderator or administrator through the links on the Forum page.
