Police Reform Unit

The Police Reform Unit is responsible for coordinating the Home Office's strategic policy on policing and, working closely with ACPO and the APA, the police reform strategy set out in the Green Paper. The Unit is also leading on the White Paper.

In addition to leading on developing the Home Office's broader approach to policing, the police reform unit is specifically responsible for policy on:

  • appointment of independent members of police authorities
  • communications from the Home Office to the police service
  • coordinating implementation of the police reform programme
  • supporting the national policing board with tripartite participation

The Police Reform Unit is led by Sue McAllister.
