Police Finance and Pensions Unit

This unit is responsible for funding issues that affect police forces.

The Police Finance and Pensions Unit is responsible for police grant funding, including the allocation and distribution of both capital and revenue police grant. It is also responsible for police PFI, Activity Based Costing (ABC) and police pensions.

The pensions section within the unit is responsible for developing policy on police pensions and retirement, with specific attention to:

  • implementing the new pension scheme for new entrants
  • reviewing injury awards and planning further pensions reform
  • oversight of the administration of the new pensions financing arrangements
  • policy oversight of arrangements for ill health retirement and medical appeals by police officers
