Police Productivity Unit
The Police Productivity Unit (PPU) is responsible for the Home Office's role in police pay and other aspects of workforce modernisation, efficiency and value for money in the police service. They are also responsible for police equality and diversity.
This unit has policy responsibility for:
- the police efficiency and productivity strategy
- pay and employee relations
- police numbers
- police workforce modernisation
- equality and diversity in the police service
- chief officer appointments
PPU leads the Home Office's representation on the Police Negotiating Board, the Police Advisory Board for England and Wales and the Police Staff Council.
