About Us

Public Confidence Unit

The Public Confidence Unit is responsible for coordinating the Home Office's policy on public confidence in policing. The Unit leads on policy related to the single confidence target, Neighbourhood Policing, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), the Policing Pledge and 101 the single non-emergency number.

In addition to leading on developing the Home Office's broader approch to public confidence in policing, the Public Confidence Unit is specifically responsible for policy on:

  • Neighbourhood Policing
  • Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS)
  • The role of Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs)
  • Single Public Confidence Target
  • Policing Pledge
  • Secretariat for the Public Confidence and Satisfaction Board
  • Secretariat for the Responsiveness and Accountability Board
  • 101 - single non-emergency number
  • Participatory Budgeting

The Public Confidence Unit is led by Gus Jaspert.
