Judicial Cooperation Unit
This case-working and policy unit is concerned with international judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
The unit comprises of two sections

extradition
-
mutual legal assistance (UK Central Authority)
The unit also acts as host to liaison magistrates posted from other jurisdictions.
Extradition
The work of the Extradition section involves processing requests to and from other countries for the surrender of persons who stand accused or convicted of extradition crimes. The section is also responsible for the negotiation of extradition treaties and conventions.
Mutual Legal Assistance
The UK Central Authority (UKCA) is responsible for processing requests to and from other countries for evidence in criminal investigations. UKCA is also responsible for the negotiation and implementation of treaties and other international agreements in the field of mutual legal assistance.
