About us
Business Support Unit
The Business Support Unit (BSU) underpins the frontline delivery provided by the Police and Crime Standards Directorate (PCSD) by supporting the Director and Senior Management Team in meeting obligations in relation to budget management, workforce planning and other corporately driven requirements and initiatives.
The Business Support Unit provides support to the directorate in the following corporate areas
Human Resources
Coordination of workforce planning is provided across the directorate, as the HR function identifies succession planning issues in conjunction with Heads of Unit.
Seconded Police Officers and Staff are recruited, a process which includes follow-up contractual arrangements and accommodation requirements. HR provides advice to units on internal recruitment processes, acting as the interface between units and central HR operations as required, and maintaining personnel records. HR also maintain the business continuity plan, and act as the directorate contact point for issues such as office accommodation and IT refresh.
Finance
BSG functions are provided, including reports to the Director and Senior Management Team on expenditure against budget profile, monthly monitoring reports to the Crime Reduction and Community Safety Group (CRCSG) Change & Support Unit, uploading of budget profiles and reconciliation of payroll and grant schedules. Advice is given to units on financial and budgetary matters.
Procurement
Requisitioning is coordinated on behalf of the Directorate, with advice to units on the purchase to pay process, and management of the network of GPC/T&E card holders. In addition, the BSU has delegated authority to manage a consultancy framework for use within the Directorate and more widely across CRCSG.
